Position Summary: This is a hybrid position that is in-office Monday and Tuesday with a remote option for all remaining workdays.
VHI is seeking a strategic, collaborative, people-centered Assistant Director of Analytics & Reporting Services to oversee two key functional areas:
- Analytics & Reporting Services (ARS): Management of the All-Payer Claims Database (APCD), Patient Level Discharge Database (PLD), statewide dashboards and client-facing reporting deliverables.
- Reporting Program Operations (RPO): Oversight of regulated data intake programs submitted through VHI’s data reporting portal (DRP), including QA processes, submitter support and operational compliance.
The Assistant Director leads a core function responsible for transforming health data into accessible, high-quality insights while ensuring operational excellence in regulated data submissions and intake. The Assistant Director supervises VHI’s Manager of Reporting Program Operations, analytics staff and external consultants and is responsible for maintaining high standards of data quality, operational execution and product delivery. This role bridges technical expertise with leadership acumen, empowering a mission-driven team to deliver impact through data.
Starting Salary Ranges (based on experience
$95,000 - $110,000 per annum. VHI offers a highly competitive benefits package on par with public and governmental entities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Staff Development:
- Supervise and coach analytics staff, the Manager of Reporting Program Operations and external consultants
- Provide leadership development and operational coaching to mid-level managers and team leads
- Foster a unified team culture across ARS and RPO, emphasizing collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
- Develop and implement onboarding, training and team processes
- Program Oversight & Vendor Management
- Manage the APCD, PLD and RPO
- Oversee vendor relationships for analytics infrastructure, submission platforms (e.g., DRP/EPICS) and data QA support
- Lead monthly APCD data release committee meetings and coordinate APCD advisory committee meetings
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective program operations and innovation
- Reporting Operations & Deliverables
- Oversee the design, production and/or QA of key statewide data products including:
- Hospital and nursing home financial and performance report (Industry Report)
- Annual licensure survey data
- Statewide charity care dashboard
- Prescription drug pricing transparency dashboard
- Emergency department utilization by severity dashboard
- Support the RPO team in ensuring high-quality, compliant data submissions and intake for required reporting programs
- Strategic Collaboration & Communication
- Represent ARS and RPO functions in client, stakeholder and partner meetings
- Contribute to strategic planning, resource forecasting and operational alignment across submission and reporting functions
- Collaborate with senior leadership to scale team capacity and evolve offerings
- Technical Oversight & Innovation
- Guide the use of Tableau, Tableau Prep, Excel, SQL, ArcGIS and data submission systems (e.g. DRP/EPICS)
- Recommend innovations to improve data intake, validation, analytics and reporting workflows
- Review and advise on data structures, visualizations and methodologies
- Recommend tools, automation opportunities and contractor support as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, health data or a related field
- 2+ years of supervisory experience with a proven record of staff development and retention
- Familiarity with healthcare reporting programs and regulatory data submissions
- Experience managing data programs, reporting processes and/or external vendors
- Experience working with large, complex data sets and applying data validation and QA processes
- Technical proficiency with Tableau, Tableau Prep, Excel, basic SQL and ArcGIS
- Significant experience managing the design and delivery of client-facing reports and dashboards
- Strong communication, project management and analytical skills
- Experience in nonprofit, public health, healthcare IT or mission-driven organizations
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards (ex. APCD) and regulatory reporting requirements
- Background in health planning, healthcare business intelligence or healthcare research
- Experience analyzing healthcare claims data a major plus
