Accountant/Accounting Manager

Job Function

Summary: This is a hybrid position in Richmond, Virginia, that is in-office Monday and Tuesday with a remote option for all remaining workdays. Only resumes with a local address will be considered.

Virginia Health Information (VHI) is seeking an Accountant/Accounting Manager to work hand-in-hand with VHI’s COO/CFO to support VHI’s A/R, A/P, internal controls, financial planning and budgeting as well as the annual independent audit and 990 tax filing. The Accountant/Accounting Manager also serves as the primary point of contact to Virginia hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, nursing facilities, et al to review Annual Historical Filings to ensure all data reported is accurate, complete, logical and consistent with their audited financial statements.

Starting Salary Ranges (based on experience

$60,000-$75,000 for Accountant and $75,000-$90,000 for Accounting Manager. VHI offers a highly competitive benefits package on par with public and governmental entities.

Primary Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Company Finances:
    • Works with finance team to approve and record bills and/or invoices using Quickbooks
    • Supports development of financial planning and budgeting
    • Prepares custom financial reports for executive leadership as requested
    • Reviews and updates internal controls including development of month-end close reports
    • Acts as the primary contact for the external independent auditor
    • Provides annual support and review for the annual 990 Federal return
    Annual Historical Filings:
    • Validates self-reported financial data against audited financial statements
    • Communicates with facility contacts to investigate and resolve data submission errors or discrepancies
    General:
    • Assumes responsibility for setting, managing and meeting deadlines while ensuring the highest level of data accuracy and discretion in all work production
    • Provides regular progress reports to the COO/CFO and suggestions to address any barriers to meeting due dates for required reports
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the COO/CFO

Accountant Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or a related field
  • Up to 2 years experience in accounting

Accounting Manager Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in accounting

Other Qualifications applicable to both positions:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite and possess excellent Excel skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred
  • Experience in healthcare industry a plus
