ConnectVirginia’s Public Health Reporting Pathway may support your facility needs for promoting interoperability requirements.

ConnectVirginia enables connectivity to the Virginia Department of Health for electronic public health reportable data.

Reportable data types include:

  • Immunizations
  • Bidirectional immunizations
  • Syndromic surveillance
  • Electronic lab reporting (including COVID-19 flat-files)
  • Cancer registry
  • Rabies
  • inter-partner messaging
  • Vaccinations
  • Client matching data for payers' HEDIS measures
  • Newborn screening
    The Department of General Services, Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services (DCLS), in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), performs the Dried-Blood Spot Screening and follow-up services; including referrals for diagnosis, medical and dietary management and long-term care and treatment planning. Babies who are diagnosed with certain heritable disorders or genetic diseases are referred to the VDH's Care Connection for Children network for coordination of services.

  • All eligible hospitals and eligible professionals intending to submit public health reportable data must register with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) prior to reporting.
