• Capabilities: Reports the availability of services at hospital emergency departments (EDs) and freestanding EDs
• Sources: Presents source information, including the number of ED patients that arrived via ambulance, the number of ED patients transferred in from another hospital or out to another hospital, the number of patients that died in the ED and the number of patients that were dead upon arrival to the ED
• Conditions: Provides the volume and percentage of visits in the ED by patient condition category, including general medical, trauma, cardiac, burn, prenatal, toxic exposure, behavioral, etc.
• Hospital Admissions: Reports the number of patients admitted to the hospital from the ED by hospital unit

• Obstetrics: Details whether facilities provide emergency cesarean delivery within 30 minutes available on a 24-hour basis, internal fetal monitoring, a board-certified or eligible pediatrician, a board-certified or eligible obstetrician, labor, delivery and recovery rooms and/or labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms
• Birth Weight: Provides the number of in-hospital births, deaths, average lengths of stay and average charges by birth weight categories for labor and delivery care. Derived from VHI’s Hospital Discharge data
