Ancillary Services Workbook: View details about services and therapies offered by Virginia hospitals.
Bed Utilization Workbook: Examine the number of licensed beds, staffed beds, available days, patient days, occupancy rate, discharge days, discharges and short stay discharges by each of the major hospital service units (i.e., medical/surgical, psychiatric, ICU, pediatric ICU, etc.) for Virginia hospitals.
Cardiac Catheterization Workbook: Gain insight into cardiac catheterization services performed by Virginia hospitals. This includes the number of stationary and mobile cardiac catheterization laboratories per facility, as well as visit volumes by patient type (inpatient vs. outpatient), age group (adult vs. pediatric) and service type (diagnostic, therapeutic or non-cardiac).

- TR (Therapeutic Radiology): Includes the number of machines, new courses of treatment, treatment visits, procedures and fields tested in each of the following four classes: Cobalt and Linear Accelerator without SR, Linear with SR, Gamma Knife and Variable (Superficial/Orthovoltage)
Emergency Workbook: Examine the data on emergency services performed by Virginia hospitals, grouped into the four subcategories outlined below:
- Capabilities: Reports the availability of services at hospital emergency departments (EDs) and freestanding EDs
- Sources: Presents source information, including the number of ED patients that arrived via ambulance, the number of ED patients transferred in from another hospital or out to another hospital, the number of patients that died in the ED and the number of patients that were dead upon arrival to the ED
- Conditions: Provides the volume and percentage of visits in the ED by patient condition category, including general medical, trauma, cardiac, burn, prenatal, toxic exposure, behavioral, etc.
- Hospital Admissions: Reports the number of patients admitted to the hospital from the ED by hospital unit
Labor and Delivery Workbook: Learn more from two worksheets that report the following by hospital:
- Obstetrics: Details whether facilities provide emergency cesarean delivery within 30 minutes available on a 24-hour basis, internal fetal monitoring, a board-certified or eligible pediatrician, a board-certified or eligible obstetrician, labor, delivery and recovery rooms and/or labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms
- Birth Weight: Provides the number of in-hospital births, deaths, average lengths of stay and average charges by birth weight categories for labor and delivery care. Derived from VHI’s Hospital Discharge data
Lithotripsy Workbook: Discover the number of stationary and mobile renal units, the number of inpatient and outpatient visits as well as the procedures performed.
Nursing Utilization Workbook: Review the number of licensed beds, patient days, available days and occupancy rates for Virginia nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities and hospital long-term care units with the following two worksheets:
- Nursing Utilization: Reports the number of licensed nursing beds by line of business as well as the number of patient days by category
- Licensure Information: Presents services provided by Virginia nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities and hospital long-term care units
