Gain deeper insight into emergency services performed by Virginia hospitals. The emergency services covered in this workbook are grouped into four subcategories:

• Capabilities: Reports the availability of services at hospital emergency departments (EDs) and freestanding EDsSources: Presents source information, including the number of ED patients that arrived via ambulance, the number of ED patients transferred in from another hospital or out to another hospital, the number of patients that died in the ED and the number of patients that were dead upon arrival to the ED
• Conditions: Provides the volume and percentage of patient visits in the ED by patient condition category, including general medical, trauma, cardiac, burn, prenatal, toxic exposure, behavioral, etc.
• Hospital Admissions: Reports the total number of patients admitted to the hospital from the ED by hospital unit
