Director of Analytics

Job Function

The Director of Analytics leads VHI’s data analysis team and is responsible for implementing the organization’s data reporting strategy. This role serves as the primary point of contact to external organizations regarding several of VHI’s data collection programs, including the All-Payer Claims Database (APCD), Patient Level Data (PLD) and other data programs as assigned.

$100,000-125,000 plus an annual incentive opportunity

Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  1. Oversee data collection requirements, client deliverables and public reporting from the APCD and PLD programs including communication with both potential and existing clients, development of reports and dashboards, training and research
  2. Support and develop members of the VHI data analysis team
  3. Provide strategic planning, pricing support and quality assurance review for client reports
  4. Develop and maintain analyses and report using data from the Emergency Department Care Coordination (EDCC) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) programs
  5. Identify new opportunities for expansion, projects, publications and process improvements related to VHI’s data collection and dissemination programs
  6. Any other duties as assigned by executive management

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess a well-rounded knowledge of healthcare analytics and relevant processes; be a proven leader, exhibit effective relationship management skills and exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; possess an aptitude for attention to detail and organizational maintenance; embrace and seek to thrive in a small-organization; demonstrate flexibility in response to a changing and evolving environment and embody a collaborative, deadline-oriented approach to tasks.

  1. Degree in business, information systems, public health or related field and 7+ years of analytics experience; advanced degree in related field preferred
  2. Deep knowledge of data analysis techniques, current trends in the healthcare industry and administrative healthcare data
  3. Communication skills and emotional intelligence necessary to manage other team members, 2+ years of supervision experience preferred
  4. Desire to work directly with customers and help them solve problems through data analysis
  5. Engaging speaker who excels in presenting to both large and small groups
  6. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Tableau required, R-Studio strongly preferred, Microsoft Access a plus
  7. Intellectual curiosity to constantly assess emerging trends in healthcare data collection and reporting through the lens of how to improve VHI’s strategy
  8. Knowledge of Virginia health policy landscape a plus
