Communications and Social Media Specialist

Job Function

To implement VHI's communications plan, solidify media relations, develop advertising materials and expand social media presence to successfully promote VHI's products and services to customers and prospects.

Qualifications

  1. Desired background in Marketing, Communications and/or Public Relations with 1-3 years’ experience in a related field; *healthcare background a plus
  2. Must possess good writing skills and the ability to tailor message to various audiences
  3. Must possess excellent verbal and presentation skills and the desire to cultivate new and existing relationships
  4. Is persuasive in communications and passionate about PR
  5. Able to grasp new concepts/processes quickly and retains/applies them appropriately
  6. Is proficient at graphic design, Microsoft Office products, engaging with and extracting information from social media websites and performing research to support VHI’s communications plan
  7. Works with initiative in a telecommute environment
  8. Works well in an in-person team environment with VHI staff and external stakeholders as well as a desire to work in a small office environment

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Initiate, write and disseminate monthly or more frequent press releases, quarterly newsletters, etc. over selected newswire service and/or online.
  2. Implement and expand a winning social media strategy including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and blog posts to engage consumers and businesses with VHI Board Members, staff, publications and products.
  3. Develop content and create corporate videos and marketing collateral for publication on social and print media.
  4. Cultivate and maintain a strong and productive relationship with both print and electronic media. Ensure the organization is understood by the media and the media are interested in presenting information to the public in a manner that informs and educates them on VHI health topics and the organization as a trusted source.
  5. Present to, educate and engage the Board of Directors on marketing, communications strategies and activities.
  6. Guide the development, revision and update of new and existing VHI business and consumer publications including VHI’s Annual Report, consumer guides, flyers, infographics, miscellaneous reports, etc.
  7. Analyze use of www.vhi.org and social media to track activity and provide monthly statistics. Work with VHI web designer to improve search engine results.
  8. Respond to website-generated and other consumer inquiries w/in 2 business days.
  9. Manage the use of external resources as they pertain to the marketing and communications function (e.g. advertising agency, printers, etc.)
  10. Plan and execute engaging monthly team building activities and events for VHI staff.
  11. Performs other duties related to the PR and communications as requested.

Starting Salary

Based on experience and market assessment.
