Medicaid

Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that provides medical assistance to certain individuals with low incomes and limited assets.

Benefits provided to eligible individuals are standard hospital and physician services, nursing home care, outpatient prescription drugs, and, in some cases, home or assisted-living facility care.

Medicaid also offers:

• the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program that pays Medicare premiums, deductibles, and co-insurance for qualified Medicare Part A elderly and disabled persons with limited savings or other resources and annual incomes at or below the national poverty level.
• the Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary program that pays the Medicare Part B premium for those persons entitled to Medicare Part A coverage with incomes that qualify. This program does not pay for deductibles and co-insurance.
