Hip Replacement (2015)

What is hip replacement?

In a hip replacement, a surgeon removes damaged or diseased cartilage and bone from the hip joint, and replaces them with an artificial joint. The new joint has a ball component and a socket. The replacement hip is called a prosthesis, and the materials, usually metal, plastic and ceramics, are designed to be accepted by your body.
