Hernia Repair (2018)

What is Hernia Repair?

An inguinal hernia happens in adult men. Part of the small intestine or bladder squeezes through a tear or other opening in the abdominal wall. The organ pushes out of its normal space into the inguinal canal, or groin area. During surgery for hernia repair, the surgeon can numb the patient from the waist down or give drugs to make the patient sleep through the procedure. The organs are pushed back into place and the hole in the abdominal wall is closed.
