Endoscopy (2018)

What is an endoscopy?

During an endoscopy procedure, a doctor uses an endoscope, a thin tube with a tiny camera, to look at the inside of the body. This particular procedure is to look at the upper digestive tract, which includes the stomach. The doctor can look at the camera's images on a screen and see any abnormal growths or bleeding. The test usually takes about a half hour, but because patients are given a sedative, a drug to make them sleepy, they may have to stay at the doctor's office or hospital for an hour or so afterward.
